Timber: Flowering Plumb. Dia 17cm. Driving down a narrow street on the other side of Bega I noticed half of a flowering plumb tree, likely broken off by a truck. Later in the day I returned with a handsaw and took what I thought was worthwhile. I don't mind the holes, and the timber, in common with many fruit trees, comes up with great colour and grain patterns. A friend created the fruit to enhance the fruit bowl.
Timber: River Oak. Dia: 6cm. River Oak belongs to the casuarina family and grows to a large tree along many rivers around the Bega district. This scoop, with it's stumpy handle, will fit into a kitchen canister along with the sugar or whatever.
